Parker Cottage Cape Town is in fact two grand Victorian cottages (Nos. 1 and 3 Carstens Street) designed by renowned Cape Town architect John Parker in 1895, now joined into one grand guesthouse.

Parker Cottage Cape Town is a little different to the usual bed and breakfast or guesthouse experience. Rather than being just a conventional ‘place to sleep’, we’re trying to create a very much unplugged, urban retreat. So although we offer free, unlimited internet (WiFi and a public PC), we don’t have televisions in our rooms (unless by request), we don`t do minibars or piped music or even reception desks at our guesthouse.

Parker Cottage is the kind of place where you can rediscover conversation, reading a book or playing a board game. The guesthouse is very much your home whilst you stay with us: the kitchen is the heart of the guesthouse and where you can find us (if you want to) and get a proper cup of coffee or tea with real milk.

Parker Cottage Cape Town is a social place but only as much as you want to be sociable. There are two guest lounges and a wonderful sunny veranda for breakfasts and our wine evenings – which occur twice a week and are totally free. There’s no ‘cut off’ time for our gourmet breakfasts: we start at eight and goes on until whenever you want to get out of bed. See more at Food and Wine.

And there`s more: at Parker Cottage, we are striving to combine luxurious hospitality and bed and breakfast accommodation with an active concern for the society and the environment. We want to show that a guesthouse does not have to cost the resources of the earth or its people: by 2015, Parker aims to be ‘off-grid’ for water heating, electricity, water and sewage and recycling 90% of our waste. We’re less than 8 minutes by car from the V&A Waterfront and less than 5 minutes on foot from trendy Kloof Street with its cafés, bars and boutiques. We offer free and secure off street parking on request.
